As this story shows, overseas travel for people with a disability can be challenging. Kim Jago has planned a trip of a lifetime to sail from Melbourne to Hong Kong on the Queen Elizabeth. But due to lack of appropriate equipment, an Eagle Lift, in Hong Kong, she’s not sure how she’ll be able to fly home.
Qantas provides the Eagle Lift at most of its domestic terminals, but due to the fact they use third party services internationally they have no control over the situation. The lifts cost around $15,000 each, including training and delivery.
